Default New 93 90s owner ,broken door!

Help! I just bought a 90s last week. today the door won't open. my neigbor, who is a lock smith, said the outside and inside handles are still connected to the cables but the mechanism is shot.
does anyone know how much this should cost to fix?
It sucks to have to climb in and out of the passenger side door! Also is there a way to disconnect the alarm or at least turn the sensitivity down?
Thanks, Nick

Default does it open from outside?

open the door panel, couple screws and lift up.

It doesn't open from inside or outside... can't get to the top 2 screws to pull the cover off.

Default That EXACT thing happened to me on my old 90. You have to cut a hole on the inside of the door....

sorry!
On my 88 90 I had to use a saw to cut out the recessed part of the inner door liner near the rear/mid section of the door. You have to be able to reach your hand in there to pull the rod that actually is connected to the latch. You can try to think up something clever all day, but the bottom line is that doors are designed to give you no other way in but with the key.

You will basically have to buy a new inner door panel to go with your new like mechanism unless you are very good with a mat knife and/or din't care about having a weird looking door panel - but it is the part of the panel that is next to your left thigh/elbow elbow when you drive so nobody will ever see it.

Default Re: You have to cut a hole on the inside of the door.

It turned out to be the lock pin. it wasn't popping all the way up since I'm an **** retentive bastard and lined up the line on the top of the pin to match the other door locks...
I turned it back 1/8 turn works like a charm.
And a locksmith (my neighbor) couldn't figure that out! I had the same idea of cutting the door. but could't bring myself to do it.
Thanks, Nick
