Drove back last night from Lancaster, PA, some 700 miles to Chicago. Real storn running, solid car. 20vT is very nice even in this heavy car. Its still a baby at 105K miles! Got a good deal on it as seller thopugh transmission is hot but I've found that it will shift into 3rd if double clutcing is used. He thought 3rd gear is shot out. Clutch has only ~1 inch of travle before it hit sthe floor so my thinking is either clutch slave is faulty or hasn't been bleed out properly or perhaps something to do with shifter linkage...shifter is really sloppy and sort of hard to find a gear....will have to investigate this more. Anothe rbad thing, or perhaps not, is that there is a lot of frothy oil buildup when you open the oil cap - either a shot headgasket or just simply har hasn't been driven long distance(which is the fact according to seller). Coolant is clean so its 50/50 chance...no big deal anyways.

Now just to decide what to do with it. Honestly, i was hoping it would be in a lot worse shape so I can pull the engine out for you know what and sell the rest, but seing as its a real strong car, and quite rare too(only ~150 ever imported) I just can't do that. So it will be either a keeper or fixer for sale....will have to decide. If I do sell it, money will be put to good use anyways:-), my Coupe.

You probably just need to rebuild the shift mechanism (IE replace the bushings and such) to get rid of the 016-butterchurn shifter. They wear out and get really really bad (vague) when trying to shift, BTDT. The 01A mechanism just has the ball joint/housing rubber go bad, the 016 has ALL the rubber and joints go bad, which makes for the sweet butter churn action.

Default Yeah, I think that's it....

Even when I shift into 1st or 2nd or any other gear is really weird....I'm afraid to let the clutch go thinking am I in right gear or no. Thanks for the tip.
