self-amplified rear speakers... you need to replace them with "normal" speakers and run new wires

Default It is possible

You need to send them an output from the pre-amp on the new deck (assuming you have one). They also share a common ground, so I just made a little harness from a spare RCA cable I had hanging around.

I asked the same question several months ago. Search should bring up my thread and all relevant wire colors and whatnot.

Good luck.

Default No, currently there's 2 positives in the factory wiring but the grounds are twisted...

...into one pin - called a common ground. Separate them, get some RCA plugs and put the right +/- to one plug and the left +/- to the other. Plug them into the rear out RCA jack on your deck and you should be golden (provided you have the remote wire properly hooked up).

Default Yes, positive is the middle wire, negative is the outer bundle of wires if you just cut into a...

...RCA wire and splice in.
