Default new transmission

For anyone interested the transmission was the problem with my '89 80Q. (it would not stay in any gear) Through lots of research here and other places, I found that with this problem which is not all that common, the problem is usually the linkage in the FWD and usually the Transmission in the Quattros.
German Mootorsport in Colorado Springs installed a transmission I found with 62k with a new sachs clutch kit & new mounts for just under $400. They do good work and are reasonable & highly recommended. I wish I had the time and tools to do the job. I immediatly put 2,000 miles on it in three days and I feel like I have a new car with 200,000 on her.
Just thought I'd post it b/c I have wanted to know how things have turned out for other people's problems to further my own understanding.

Default Re: new transmission

I have to put a new tranny in my 93 pretty soon. I picked up one and I have to do a few things to it before I put it in, like replacing the diff seals. I am also putting in a new clutch kit and I am planning on welding pipes in place of my "depleted cats" they sound pretty bad as well as the rear muffler where the cat material is now located, but I will worry about that later. I will let you know how it drives when I get the new tranny in, I also got redline MT90 diff fluid which is supposed to make the tranny shift relatively smoothe, I am pretty excited for that.
