Default No Brainer decision right?.... for future Audi Newb

<center><img src="http://prudhoe.codeword.com/mnpctech/Audi/90Sdrivers.jpg"></center><p>My first post here. Hello everybody

Friend of a neighbor is offering to sell his `93 90 Sport w/ 146K. Hes owned it for 10 yrs.

He wants $1000. "Whats the catch?!"

Auto tranny 2nd is slipping
Sport mode doesn't work
Oil leak from head gasket (his mechanic says)
Climate control low setting doesnt work
Needs new tires

Spent 2 hours looking it over and searching for reason not to buy it. He kept all records. He waxed it twice a year. Garage kept. No rust! Borbet wheels! These are good signs!

So after surfing archived threads here I learned about those trouble areas. The major being slipping Trans. I'd definately consider miktip's auto-2-manual suggestion.

This really looks like a no brainer. This would be my first Audi. I'm aware of the high cost of parts for these. The body alone is worth the investment I'd say

Default looks nice, i like the wheels and the antenna mod

auto tranny would be a deal breaker for me, unless you can swap it out yourself.

Default One wheel is different than the rest....

Other than that, the body looks to be in great shape. I like that antenna mod.

Default My auto transmission rebuild cost about $2500

Have the suspension checked as well. You could easily see another 3-4K in repairs above and beyond the transmission.
