Default NoNonsense: Is this a homemade battery hold-down kit?

What size battery? Any tips? I'm a bit hesitant to drill through the trunk floor, but, if it has to be done...

Default Joe's is LOTS better due to lower COG... but most any hold-down is gonna require drilling...

to anchor the battery to the floor. Battery is an Optima 51.

Default I think his pumps still buried down there...

I was a little concerned about amp hours, cold cranking amps and cold weather initially but 3 years later, 3 winters and car sitting outside occasionally at airport for over a month during sub-zero temps it's never had a charger or jumper cables hooked up to it. But I do use a small 12V solar cell laying on the dash and plugged into ciggy lighter when leaving it outside for more than 5-6 days in winter.

Default yeah that's homemade...I simply took a thin piece of 1" wide steel strip...

measured where the bends needed to be, and heated it up and hammered a bend into it over a vice. It was a quick and dirty way of doing it.
I used drilled one small hole (closest to us in the pic) and the pinch seam. On the other side of the battery (out of view), I drilled a hole in the floor and put a piece of threaded steel. I used wing-nuts to hold it down incase I needed to remove it in a hurry.

The battery is great, it started the car in -5 degree weather when I first moved to VT.

I am, however, running a smaller 15lb battery now witha different mount all together.

Hope that helps!

Default almost forgot to mention, i moved the central locking pump up and to the left a little...

I had it zip tied near the vacuum actuator for the fuel door lock. you can see in the pic how the carpet is slightly distorted up there. ;-)
