Yes they usually do. Every time I've had brake pads installed they've squealed. Usually for 100 miles or so. it's on and off. I had mine done in July and I think they just stopped squealing last week or so. But I do have one caliper that needs replacing.

Default Mine did that..

for a while, and then especially when I hadn't driven the car much or only around town, so the next time I went on the highway I applied solid consistent pressure when exiting, sort of a break in technique without getting too carried away. That seems to have worked. I know that with disc brakes on bicycles you have to break the pads in almost the same way. Not that bicycles have anything to do with cars but hydraulic brake systems are based on the same principles.

I don't want to glaze my pads by braking hard?

Hence the "don't get carried away..." advice, and hey, they are only brake pads if you mess it up!
