Default OH NOES! Please help! My CQ is messed up and I am far from home!

There seems to be pressure in the cylinder head. Oil is being pushed out the oil filler cap. If I run the engine and them stop the car and remove the filler cap I hear a big "psssssssh" as the pressure escapes. I thought this was rather weird as there should be a breather on the cylinder head so this doesn't happen. I figured maybe it's clogged, but as I look around it appears there is no breather at all?!??!

This only this I can figure is that the crankcase breather does the work for the cylinder head and the crankcase? Could it be that my crankcase breather is clogged or is something else going on here???

Please help me! Oil is going everywhere so I can't drive home.

Default Crank case breather is clogged. Most likely spot is...

...the spark arrester.

Remove the metal section of pipe that runs behind the head and take a look in the end that is closest the crank case. If the spark arrester is loaded with crap, yank it out and crank the crap with a hammer. Use a propane torch to burn all the crap off. Stuff the wire arrester thingus back into the pipe.

Default Or the flabby rubber hose that should be replaced with the updated metal part...

they collapse and don't allow good breathage.

Default 2nd on spark arrester. However, do not hammer on it. Just use some carb cleaner.

That's what I did this summer, worked great.

I whacked it to crack the crap, then lit it on fire. All the junk burned off in a couple of minutes

Default Dunno. I don't know anyone who has driven without it.

I imagine it would be cool to have a backfire detonate the block, and obviously Audi saw that as a possibility, but just how much risk is there? I doubt it is likely, but I'm not testing that theory on my car. ;-)

Default If you ask me, it's probably also there to restrict flow a little and reduce oil blow by into

the engine through the induction system.
