Out of no where, Car stalled out, Oil light came on, the car sounds like its running with no oil (lots of ticking when i accelerate). dip stick reads full. Towed the car home. Is this an oil pump issue?

The oil pump is very robust. It all depends on the order of operations. If your car stalls out the oil light will come on as there is no oil pump pressure driven by the crank. I think a more detailed description of exactly what happend may help. If it stalled ou how could it make noise on acceleration ? did it restart? was the noise before it stalled ? was the oil pressure light on after it restarted ?

When I left work the car started up fine (no noise, no oil indicator light). I was driving along and the car stalled out. I started it back up and the oil light was on and the engine was making a lot of ticking noise (sounds like the engine doesnt have any oil. when I started to accelerate. The car stalled out again so I towed it home. Oil is full.

Ah that makes more sense. Kind of strange that it would stall out in the first place without an oil pressure warning wouldn't you think if it was the oil pump ? but the ticking is ominous. Keep in mind the oil pressure relief valve also. All cars have them but I am not sure where it is on the V6. Unfortunately oil pressure is not one of those thimgs you can experiment with . A mistake will cost you an engine. What is the plan now / have it towed to the shop ?
