Oil warning light question

On cold startup my autocheck system displays an oil warning, my oil pressure gauge confirms this by showing 0 bar pressure.
It's not untill the engine's revs go above 2000 revs that pressure picks up and the warning goes.
I know on the V6 engine cars that this can be remedied by replacing either the non-return valves in the valley pan or the pressure valves in each of the cylinder heads.
Not sure if the oil pressure sender operates both the pressure gauge and the autocheck system though?

the sender for the warning and the gauge are separate (they're in the same unit, but it has two separate connections)
