whats the difference between a UrS4 and a S4 and UrS6 and S6?

Ur = original = first year they were made

The UrS is the C chassis, while the new gen S4's are on the B chassis.

not necessarily the first year they were made but the first of a model designation...

that was never repeated or a model that goes out of production then later is re-introduced, designated identically to the original, ie; S4/S6.

UrQuattro as an example consists of several years.

92-94 S4 are UrS4's (original S4)
95-97 S6 are UrS6's (original S6)

96/97 A4's qualify for "Ur" status as well as do several, if not many others... 100, A6 etc

Ur is german (slang) for "original."
