maybe go to your fusebox & make sure that you haven't blown any more.
As per what CvTech suggested you should use the cig lighter Pwr & illum for the gauges. But get the switched from the stereo. I'm guess it's a little to late for this but if yer taking it all apart anyway it's something to consider...
Voltmeter is the easiest to test, and will work if you've wired everything correctly. It's hard to troubleshoot elec problems without physically being there. And since my install went without a hitch I have no prior encounters with which to rely upon. So I'm sorry but I don't think I can be of any further help... my guess is that yer on your own
check yah later

I got the oil pressure guage to max out (this is normal because the sender unit is not on there yet) and the oil temp guage to move a bit (this is good too as engine is cold)
My last problem is with the volt meter guage, I cannot get it to work?? I know it does work as I tested it on the battery, can someone explaine to me the theroy behind "switched" 12V for the voltmeter?? I am ok with car stero's so I think I am missing something realy stupid. What colour wire is this "switched"12V in my dash stero wireing?

if I hook up either the constant or the switched the oil guages max out and the volt does not move.
if I run a power right to the pos terminal on the volt guage the oil gagues still max out
tommorow I install the oil preess sender and go from there
