I drove the car home tonight in spite of having a few things yet to do. The speedo adapter I got is a too long so no speedo till I can get a shorter one or modify the one I have. My center locker solenoid is mounted but not plumbed for vacuum so no locking yet. And I need to get a harness spliced in so my reverse lights work. And lastly due to the 1/2" drop in my tranny mounts I'm topping out on my urethane snub mount which is transmitting some vibrations thru the steering wheel.
Now for the good stuff. If the old adage is correct that it takes 10HP minimum to even "feel" an increase in a 3,000lb car then I just picked up 75HP. Not really HP mind you but the acceleration of a 1.5 ton car with 75 more HP and better gearing to boot! Now yes, I know thats silly but dammit thats what it feels like. Its GOT to be the equivalent of "at least" 50HP. The car is frighteningly quick off the line and just driving away from a stop as I always have in the year I've owned this car will screech my tires! Do I claim I got 50HP from this? No, of course not but whatever it is its dramatically more powerful-feeling than all other engine mods to date combined & doubled!
Pic above is of the modified aluminum early model A4 linkage box that made the final aspect of this conversion so easy. Below will follow some pics of the goods and some special requests for others.

You should do a write up on doing this or something similar. I'm sure alot of people would be interested. So the low torque 2nd gear has been fixed? lol, sounds like it.

and out of harms way. All aluminum shielding went back in flawlessly and exhaust mounted up with no clearance/fitment issues at even a single spot. I love it when a plan comes together!
