Hello!
So it's time for a smog check, and this means that it is time for a tune up.
I'm thinking of replacing the oxygen sensor, spark plugs, air filter and both catalitic convertors. (Please let me know if I'm missing something)
I found two types of oxygen sensors -- the chep one and 3 times more expesive one, so question is -- is it worth a money to buy an expecive oxygen sensor?
And another qestion -- what usually people do about the catalityc converters -- this car needs two and they are about $500 each?
Thanks in advance!

For the cats, it's cheaper to have two universal cats welded in.
My personal choice are the Vibrant High-flow cats www.vibrantperformance.com, but I'm a little biased as I work for Vibrant :-)
The expensive oxygen sensor is probably a direct fit, plug and all...the cheaper unit is probably 'generic' in that it has three wires, and you have to cut and splice. Either are fine, as long as you get the correct sensor for your vehicle.
How old are your cap/rotor/wires? Might want to look at those as well. Replace if needed.
Oh, and do an oil change before your emissions test.
HTH,
-Dave

Thanks for advice!
My wires are one year old 8mm ones. But the cap and the rotor are old... I guess I'll change them too.

Yes, you seems to be right -- there is Ignition Coil part for my car, and it is pretty expensive.
I think there is no need to worry about it until it works.

I don't know what car you own but you can get the same o2 sensor meant for your car at http://www.thepartsbin.com for about $110. It is the same exact one as the $500 one but cheaper. It plugs right in and there is no need for splicing. I would buy the $40 Bosch universal but i keep hearing people say that there breaks about 2 weeks after install. Of coarse the put another one in under the o2's warranty but i don't want to worry if i have a broken or malfuntioning o2 under the hood.

Sorry I didn't see your car at the bottom of the page. I found the oem oxygen sensor for your car. It is not a universal because it has the necassary plug on it already. The universals don't and need to be spliced. Like i said it is $110 versus like $500 i think you said. That is a little steap, the dealer wanted $230 for that i think, maybe you are talking $500 for the two dealer sensors. These are half the price and oem. And no i do not work for the following online parts company.

Thanks!
But I actually was talking about thouse sensors vs $40 for universal ones... 500 is for a catalitic converter and two are required.
