Okay, my car runs great, idle great, etc etc, BUT this slowly deteriorates over the period of about a month. I had driven the car as-is for about 2 weeks after I finished getting everything put back together and she ran great, but a heavy hesitation set in. I decided to do the plugs and low and behold, one of the plugs was just dead, nada, completely fowled. Well replaced em', and the car ran perfect again. About a month later I could feel the hesitation coming on again, so I pulled the same plug, it was pretty dark, but I cleaned it up good, and once again, no hesitation. Now once again, it's coming back, and I'm pretty sure it's the plug. What could be causing it to fowl? The car sat for at least 3 years doing nothing, could it be plug wires? Any ideas?

if your wires are old and look worn they might be. if you have a break in the cylinder that you are fouling out and its not getting the right current that could lead to fouling out. worse case you have a bad ring in that cylinder and as repeater noted your getting blowby that is fouling it out. unless you have really high miles Audi rings usually hold up pretty well.
start small, buy some new tri's, maybe pick up some magnacor wires (quality at half the OE price for beru or bosch) and see how it acts then.

If it's black and oily, then it sounds like that cylinder may be sucking oil or the valve seals are shot.
Try letting the engine idle, get a spray bottle of water, squirt the plug wires and rev the engine while looking/listening for arcing/missing. It's not guaranteed, but is usually a good way to check for faulty wires.
