i was talking to my mechanic today about a set of mance mounts i have waiting to go in, but he strongly advised against using solid strut mounts saying it would be too harsh for street use and would be better for a track car. I just wanted to see what people thought who were running solid strut mounts on the street.

I actually feel that they greatly improve the supsension feel for a normal street car. I also only have stock springs and struts.

stock mounts that have collapsed 10 miles after installing them. IMO the solid mounts are the best upgrade I've done so far. The overall improvement to the front end characteristics was dramatic. Put 'em in and don't look back.

with a solid mount to a brand new OEM mount. People have a huge misconception that mounts and/or even solid control arm bushings contribute to ride harshness. Tires, springs and shocks account for over 99% of all concave/convex road bump absorption. However a bad, failed or worn out OEM mount will exaggerate that in a way no solid mount ever can.
And as far as solid control arm bushings how can anything that pivots freely and not go up/down with suspension contribute to ride harshness!?! S'like saying an alternator pulley contributes to engine knock. Pivoting suspension assemblies dont contribute to ride harshness any more than rotational engine pieces contribute to pinging/detonation.

and I do not notice more harshness.
My suspension is Boge's up front and I just changed to 5 lug hubs with 17" wheels.
