Default psa... if your car refuses to idle, is very hard/impossible to start, seems like a vacuum leak...

this sounds so stupid... cause it is. If your car doesn't want to start... check your oil cap. Perhaps you filled it up... and put it on crooked so only one tooth was engages, leaving a big gap, resulting in a massive vacuum leak that is hard to spot. And maybe the car would start well enough to let you move it out of the shop but not start or idle outside.

Don't spend an hour removing the intake boot to inspect for leaks. Don't go around checking all your grounds and replacing the one on the intake manifold "just in case". Don't go looking for no spark, or a dead fuel pump, or a bad isv.

Check your oil cap.

duhhh

And after all that... because dad just couldn't believe that the oil cap was the cause of it all, he had me start the engine and then he removed the cap. Stalled instantly.

For future searching:

stalling
vacuum leak
stall
hard start
fuel issue
no fuel
oil cap
no start
no idle
idle problem
stumbling
poor throttle response

Default Hmmm...you just gave me an idea.

I should be looking for vacuum leaks on the '75 before diving into the AFC fuel injection...

Default It's not listed for the 7A/NG that I can see.

However, it is listed for the Urs4. That's how Skolnick found his. The 7A throttle screw o-ring seems to be the same size...

Quick Reply: psa... if your car refuses to idle, is very hard/impossible to start, seems like a vacuum leak...
