Put in front Eibach springs yesterday, what a world of difference. Wow.
Well, I spent the good majority of Saturday, pulling my front Vogtland springs and replacing them with my new Eibach springs. Ran into a few road blocks along the way, like forgetting that the VW/Audi special tool for removing the top strut nut was on it's way to Minneapolis in the back of my friend's car (doh!).
But otherwise all went well, I even spent the time taking a thread die to the tie-rod end stud. Big help.
It also gave me a chance to examine how the new strut mounts have held up over the past 2 months, and also how the mount savers have held up. Some pictures below.

Is it normal for a little bit of grease to be squeezed out of the bearing? Otherwise it still seemed healthy.

Both sides looked just about the same, how do they look to you guys?
Here is a Vogtland ("revised version") up next to the new Eibach spring.

Notice how much closer the Vogtland's lower coils are to each other compared to the Eibachs? No wonder they make so much noise, they're ALWAYS touching! My front end is now 100% silent, and oh man do I love it. It's amazing how much noise the Vogtland springs were making, geeesh.
For those that had the original Vogtland front springs, do these ones look any different?
Oh yeah, since I didn't have the special tool, I made one.

I took the car in to Tires Plus for an alignment today, and MAN was it out of whack. They were only able to align one wheel though (passenger side front). They couldn't loosen the driver side inner tie rod, guess I've gotta get in there with some torch action.
Also, they told me they couldn't adjust ANYTHING on the back. Is this true? Since the back is lowered as well, my camber is way out and I think this is causing the rear in "hopping" that I've got. Oh well, we'll see what happens when I put the Eibachs in the back.
Anyways, Vogtland sucks, Eibach rules, yada yada blah blah.
Anybody want my old springs? :-D

Looks nice, kind of wonder how they compare to my Weitec springs. Do you really need that special strut tool to take the nut off? If so where can you buy one or how do you make one? I have some new mounts w/ mount savers I am going to be installing soon.

There's probably a way to take it off with out the tool, but it's a pain....
This is the official tool (I believe) http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_VWAUDI_pg15.htm
Not sure about the store, but there it is none the less. To make it, I just find an extra socket I don't need. Sized it to the strut nut, then took a cut off wheel and cut the pins out of it. The tool really makes things move much quicker.

rear camber adjustment is done by way of the ball joint,
It adjusts (slides) in and out of the control arm and will allow for some camber adjust. I can't speak for FWD but I know my coupe quattro is like this.
