Default son of a B.... Is he allowed to leave Canadian airspace?

I think I have earned a ride around in a plane... Wait 'till I get my new camera though...

Default ya, I can go wherever I want. To the U.S. though requires a customs stop... usually at Bellingham

once cleared u can cruise around anywhere you want. I flew down to the Skagit airport once. A second customs visit is required when you re-enter Canada.

Default What about just fly over US, but never land? Would love to fly over San Juans,

then up along Chuckanut (how low can you go?), and then back in to Van... Maybe getting a little close to Baker might be fun...How many seats? What does a full run cost you? Are you for hire if I had a friend in town?

Default answers within:

as long as I don't land, I can fly wherever I want across the border. So this is important when considering fuel, because I don't want to run out and have to make a forced approach onto U.S. soil. But if I can do the flight (whatever you want) on the gas I leave with then everything is hunky-dory. I just have to file a flight plan, but that's nothing you need be concerned with. Oh, just we gotta be careful around Widbey Island, cause unless you want to be intercepted by F18's I should stay well clear of the military airspace.

Otherwise ya, it's prettymuch open field. San Juans to Chuckanuk-area is easy enough, Baker is a bit more of a hike from there. But certainly we could make it into the foothills within a reasonable amount of time. For the "Gabriel flight", we made it from Abbotsford all the way out and around Bowen Island then back in just 1h20m. I'll chart out a rough routing for what you'd be interested in and then we can start emailing.

Plane seats 4ppl total.. so 3 passengers + 1 pilot. I don't know how low I can go around Chuck, but the Canadian rules are that I can be 500' above ground level in any area that isn't classified as dense urban/city/populated. I'll look on my maps and see what the Samish Lake area is like.

As for cost, well, plane rents at CAD$112/hr +tx including however much fuel I want/need (plane holds 42gal). Typically nice flights are longer than an hour, but generally less then two. I would be more than happy to take you up if there was a friend in town =). Hit me with some potential dates and then I could book the aircraft well in advance. Then as long as we have marginally nice weather, it's all good to go.

email me for more in depth conversation

-Rob
