quattro coupe clutch question?

quattro coupe clutch question?
I have a 1990 quattro coupe, and recently I've noticed that when I take off from a dead stop and begin to engage the clutch, I hear a rattling sound from under the car which goes away when it's fully engaged. However, the clutch seems to grab well, with no detectable slippage in any gears. Any ideas? Flywheel? Normal? Thanks.

Check for loose exhaust heatshields or other rattlin parts....
..i had the same kinda rattle and it turned out my catalytic converter was breaking apart inside. I hope it's not your clutch, and I doubt it is.

Re: quattro coupe clutch question?
Holy crap! My 1990 CoupeQ is doing the exact
same thing! I have 145,000 miles on the car, and
it makes the same sound when I play with the
clutch. I really don't want to have to replace
it, but my guess is also the exhaust. On an 11
year old car, I think it's time for a new exhaust.
There is also a heat sheild that makes a different
sort of rattle noise that is driving me nuts as
well. Ugh!
Yours in CoupeQ rattling misery,

Betcha can't say that heading 5 times fast. ;)
Yeah, I know..."That heading 5 times fast".
Seriously, though, it's probably exhaust related, broken hanger, loose heatshield, crumbling cat. Or, if these aren't it, it could be the throwout bearing.
