Default question 1: Are there any tranny upgrades available while I'm putting in the AAN?

The one I have is going to lose it's 3rd gear synchro pretty quick I suspect, just like my last one. Having the extra power to beat on it with will not help, so I'm wondering what my options are.

Default You need to join the Audifans S-list if you are serious about this swap. Not much info here.

you can find a good 01A, upgrade to 01E, or perhaps play with 016....all should hold up pretty good unless you plan on pushing 500+ WHP, are you?

A good(not abusive) driver helps a lot :-)

Default An 016 is a lot stronger than an 01A

You'll have to rig the actuator mecahanism from an old 4k or so.

I had one in my Coupe for awhile and it handled the power easily.

Default Javad's broke at what power level, 600+ at the wheels?

Meanwhile Jim Green's broken TWO 016's with his 90q20vt with around that power level.

It's all in how you treat them...

Default Your best bet is the RS2 01E box if you're planning on high horsepower

All RS2 01E's (CRB code) came with the wider first gear and the flexible main shaft. The later S2 01E 6spds (CGR code) were also identical to the CRB, however the early 6spds and 01E 5spds had variations of narrow first gears and 'rigid' main shafts. Having said that, all 01E gearboxes (5 and 6 spds) will bolt up to the AAN motor. Not sure how things mount up in the B3, but in the CQ in order to make the 01E work you need the 6spd half shafts from an S2 or RS2, a 4kq drive shaft, B4 subframe (or a 28mm spacer on the driver's side gearbox mount), RS2 shift linlage and RS2 (or S2 6spd) mounting brackets. The clutch slave hydraulic line also needs to be modified to clear the linkage. The aforementioned list is the simplest (ie: bolt-on) way to do it. Of course linkages, mounts and drive shafts can all be custom made/modified/pieced together. Just depends on your tastes and resources. Hope that helps a little...

Darn, I guess that the 016 is pretty much useless then! ;-)

Default maybe I'll go that route, I don't 'need' much more than 300 or so for the D.D.

Then again why leave all the potential untapped...

I truly can't decide :\. I want to do a nice clean install, with a good level of power and I want it to run smooth and 'sort of' comfortably.
I put on my sport suspension and as much as I love it, everytime I drive someone elses nice newer car I wish mine handled nice n smooth like that. I don't want to move it even further away from 'comfortable' but I can't seem to toss my desire for higher horsepower. I need to find the balance somewhere in between.

Default Yea, I don't have much faith in the 016 anymore.

Both broke under power just driving on the street. No abuse like drag racing at the time. Stupid GT35R.
