Default Question

Ok. so I am thinking my over heating problem is the AUX fan switch, seeing the Fans will not come one even thought the temp guage is showing way too high. So I am thinking before buying a new one I will test it out. This is where you guys come in. Tell me if my thinking is right. I find which two wires when coonected complete the circuit to turn on the fan. Once the fan is one watch the temp guage to see if it is still over heating. If it is, then I'm in trouble.......any suggestions?

Default sounds like a plan, are your radiators getting hot?

might be water pump or thermostat. If the radiators get hot i think it is a sign the thermostat is opening.

funny thins is that I touched the outside of the rad today and it wasn't hot. I did touch the back side (engine side) The little pipping in front of the right side of the rad was hot. You just made me think of something if the rad isn't getting hot the that is an indication of either the Thermostat stuck/bad or the water pump is bad....correct? How do I tell if the water pump is working? I know in Jap/American cars you open the rad cap and watch the water flow, but in the Audi how do I tell?
