Default Radiator leak

I have a very slow leak in my radiator.
Not suprising now that I finaly got it back from the shop.

Will that stop leak stuff hurt any other part of my heads or motor?

Default Don;t use it!!...

...Ive seen a few Audis that were running hot and we couldnt see why...then they mentioned that they had used the brown pepboys stuff with the pellets in it. We removed the expansion tank and alll the pellets were bottlenecked in the bottom hose fitting. Luckily, they didnt seem to get into the head/block; we replaced the tank, refilled, and all was good. Oh yea..then we replaced thier hose that was leaking. :P

Default Alternatively

you could do what I did...heat up the pellet type with coolant over my camp stove...then flush the now liquid into my rad.

'course, I did it on my 4kq...which I wasn't really worried about. I wouldn't do it on my 90q...I'd just replace the rad.

Not sure what car you have. A B3 5cyl all metal radiator is only $200 at VW parts.

Default Glad I asked

I have spent a ton of money fixing problems with my 93 90 CSQ and the heater core, upper and lower radiator hoses are just the start. I would have S#@$ my pants if I added the problem to my next fix.

Thanks a lot folks. I have only used this forum for a little while and the help has been invaluable

Default Re: Radiator leak

If you have a small leak, you can use some stop leak, only thing is to use it properly, not as on the box.... fill by the hose that goes from top rad to head and rest, try it in the rad by the same place. I got good result everytime, it all depend on which you use and how
