head unit? One car already had a burnt out bulb for the LCD Freq Display, the other car burnt out today. So, in the day time, you can see the frequency, but at night, there's no way.
I pulled one of the radios and lifted the face plate. The bulbs are tiny - are they called "grain of wheat bulbs" (somewhere I saw that) - and apparently are soldered connections with tiny white wires. Each bulb is covered with an orange bulb condom.
Seems like red LEDs would be the perfect fit here, but I am not skilled in circuit board soldering. Any ideas of what to do?
(PS Yes, I know, install a whole new stereo. However, these are fine for me, and most replacements I've seen are too ricey for me. I like the stock black, smooth lines, **** for volume, etc. ) Thanks guys!

I can't find any shops that would replace the little bulb with an LED. The one's that would just replace one bulb want $40 for that.
Well, it's a thought... I know I just don't have the skill to do this fine of work - eyesight, etc.
Thanks!

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/60004/radio.jpg"></center><p>I think the radio is called a "Weisbaden".
In the photo, the LCD is the upper left corner of the radio. It does display the freq, but w/o a back-light, so it cannot be seen at night.
There are three other bulbs - two on the right edge and one below the LCD that illuminate the buttons. These three are working, but bound to go out soon, since the other one did. Strange that the same one burnt out on both radios (or not?).
What do you think?
(photo shamelessly stolen from ebay - my radios are in better condition)
