Random "brake" light coming on in my dash & sluggish acceleration....Any Ideas? TIA!

Here's the process.
You need to swap out the hydraulic booster for the vacuum unit. Connect that to vacuum via the IM. The 4 plugs for knock sensors and speed sensor (reference and engine speed) need to be relocated as the vacuum booster gets in the way.
You then need to remove the bomb and lines. A line to the pump needs to be blocked off (shorter bolt). Then the x-plug needs to be removed so a spring/rod can be removed. This cuts off the pressure off to that hose you removed from the pump. You also need to by-pass a brake line going to the bomb as well. He basically covers everthing in this link.

Vacuum Conversion

A bit more than that - you replace the hydraulic booster with the vacuum booster
Your remove and discard the bomb. Modify the PS pump (pull out a spring loaded check valve) and re-route the hydraulic fluid lines. Find a vacuum source for the booster.
I am doing this along with a bunch of other projects on my 90 - manual heater controls and dump the ABS so I don't have a great time estimate but I would guess it would be a full weekend for the "drop the bomb" from start to finish.

You just described why my car has been sitting on jacks for a year.
No time when I have money or no money when I have time. I'm just trying to take advantage of this nice weather to get it roadworthy again.

yeah...I did a full suspension install on my A6 two winters back...
My garage is not heated, was wearing three layers of clothes just to stay warm. By the end of the night (5am) the garage was just about room temperature, while outside was a cool 10 degrees.
