Default rasphy (sp?) exhaust note

i have the scorpion (sp?) exhaust on the cq with factory exhaust headers from an 90 cq. i take it this exhaust dont normally have a rasphy (sp?) exhaust note? if so what is causing the rasphy sound? exhaust leak? cat going bad? i want to fix this annoying rasphy sound.

Default Same problem.

Does it go away after the engine warms up from about 10 minutes of driving?

I've got a 1990 CQ with the stock "bag o' snakes" header, with an aftermarket rear muffler from the P.O.

The sound sounds like it's coming from the front of the exhaust, so I'm wondering if it's the cat.

It's a distinctly raspy sound, around 3K, and is very different from just the header sound, which is deeper.

Anyone else?

Default Very good description of my CQ

you described mine identically.

If I start the car in the driveway, usually it will sound very loud gears 1-3.

Only after the first few stop and goes does the sound diminish.

What is this, I've always wondered?

Default raspy, non-scorpion

koopS2 - sweeet pics on your poster. i actually love the S2 bumper with the B3 hood/grille. What springs/shocks? H&R/bils?

rasping - I listened to the scorpion clip below, and although I don't have a scorpion, or even a full cat-back...that ain't the sound.

SpeedyDTP247 SC'd+CQ - did that clip explain it, or is it something else.

We may be comparing apples/oranges, or it may be a problem pre-exhaust, or even with the header itself.

I don't know. It just bothers me.
