Default reaf differential leak

My 94 CSQ (5 sp) appears to be leaking from the front of the rear differential. My son in law is a mechanic and I had him check for leaks since I have a small spot on my garage floor right underneath the reaf diff and I can smell gear lube sometimes, especially after a high speed run for several hours on the highway. Son in law said he thought the leak was coming from a gasket at the front of the rear diff and where the driveshaft connects. Anyone had the same experience? Any advice on how to proceed and what it might cost to repair? Anything else we should do back there while we're at it?

Default differential seal...pretty common from what I've heared.

I would say about 2 hours or so labor + the part.
