Rear brakes make a really bad noise...
So looks like I am going to have to set some time aside and tackle my rear parking brake not working.
Here's "the" problem:
Bought the car, parking brake was in non-working condition. No big deal, just park it and throw it into 2nd gear. It's AWD so it really is not going anywhere. BUT recently driving for about a week and a half now. I get this god awful grinding/rubbing sound coming from the right rear area. Just yesterday the sound got worse and started coming from the rear entirely. Yesterday it definitely sounded like a brake pad or caliper rubbing/grinding on something.
Anyways, any one have an thoughts, ideas, experience with this?
Any help is much appreciated.

E-Brake is different from the foot brake...
Sounds like you could have gotten a rock in between the pad & rotor... either way its time to get wrenchin... the e-brake has its own set of brake pads and braking mechanism (cable) then your foot brake so the two issues most likely wouldn't co-inside. That is unless the e-brake pad broke loose and is grinding on the inside of the rotor housing... good thing tomorrows sunday

Might be a dumb question but have you checked the torque on the wheel bolts?
If they are really loose, they will create a 'wobble' sound that will go away when the brake is applied.

I had this happen once....
used a air gun to tighten my lug bolts down.
But in your situation, sounds like a bad wheel bearing. Does the noise get louder in corners?
Things I would clean/check:
* Jack up each corner and check for wheel bearing play
* Clean the mating surface of your hub to rotor
* Clean the mating surface of your wheel to rotor
* Check/clean your caliper slide pins
You probably have some bad calipers. When I first got my car it was a rusted heap. Both calipers were working, but one started to slowly diminish to nothing and now both are totally inop. I checked both cables for movement when the e-brake is applied, they move all the way down at the calipers, but no braking action.

Instead of the purple grease, Mos2 anti-seize works really good for the pins.

Found out my problem...
After a 20 minutes, two jack stands, and a jack, I found my problem.
The furthest muffler rubber holder had broken. Therefore leaving my exhaust pipe going up and over the rear axle to touch and rub on the right rear axle. Causing a god awful sound especially on turns (the exhaust would turn the most).
So I removed the broken plastic exhaust holder. Placed in a metal clamp holder, and I am up and running once again without any odd noises.
Also found out my brake project just got moved up to next weekend. First off I can't stand NOT having a parking brake, and second, my rear brake pads are practically GONE.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help.
