rear speaker power
does anybody know what the rms and peak power is for the rear speakers? do they have a built in amp like the older 90's did?
by the looks, I'd say they are 6 1/2", sound right?
if anybody has taken them out, who makes them?
even though mine are like 10 yrs old, i have found that the quality is very good and that unless you upgraded to high output speakers you might not tell a huge difference.
any comments feel free

answer to your question
the speakers on my 12v 90 are 70 rms and the speakers are made by a tire co. hakaplita and there 5 1/4 not 6 1/2 and that goes for all 80/90
and just for beter sound out of you stock spekers the best thing you can do is get a nice head unit and use the head units pre amp for the power to the spekers it will sounds grate

specs.....(kinda long)
factory speakers 10 yrs. ago were never too "great" persay, but they might do the job for whatever kind of music you listen to, at whatever volume you like it. These are the specs I found, they sound about right too:
5 1/4" components
Front speaker ratings: 15 Watts continuous, 18 Watts peak at 4 ohms
Front speaker frequency range: 50Hz - 17,000Hz
Rear woofer (bass speaker) ratings: 15 Watts continuous, 25 Watts peak at 4 ohms
Rear woofer frequency range: 60Hz - 17,000Hz
Rear tweeter (treble speaker) ratings: 15 Watts continuous at 4 ohms
Rear tweeter frequency range: 5,000Hz - 20,000Hz
The built in amp is still there, made by nokia. The amp doesn't necessarily improve sound quality, it just makes the music louder. The speaker power handling is never more than 15 or 20 watts continous either, because it wasn't until the late 90's when car manufacturers decided to put high powered stereos into their new vehicles. The factory head unit (probably a gamma) produces about 2-5 watts continous. An aftermarket HU produces around 20-30 watts continous. IF you have already upgraded to an aftermarket HU, and you think that your speakers sound fine, then leave them in, it will save you a bundle. If not, you might want to wait until you get that upgrade before you make your choice.

thanks for the input
sounds reasonable, well i replaced the fronts with kenwoods that put out a total of 90w apiece (if i had an amp) and they sound alot better, the rears i left for now and i have a jvc headunit with 45wx4
i wont be blowing anybody away with bass, but inside the car it can be plenty loud for me to hear the music
