Rear speaker wiring-what colour is the amp power?

I have installed a nifty new Pioneer MP3 deck and the dumbasses at Futureshop ran the amplified signal from the new deck into the amps in the rear speakers. They said "just adjust the fader so the rears aren't so loud." I want to just disable the amps until I get new speakers all around. Need to know which wires power the amps and I'll just cut them in the doors.

you mean if I disconnect the power and have the deck power all the speakers it will sound bad? There should be enough deck power (4x50W) to power the stock speakers. Will the inoperable amps affect the sound?

The amp built in to the base of each speaker also EQ's the sound. Believe me, if you try to use just the speaker part of the stock speakers you will see how crappy they really are. It is pretty simple to supply them with line level input. I am surprised the Futureshop people didn't do that but I guess they didn't know there was an amp built in to each rear speaker as it is a relatively unique way to do it. I would do the wiring for you if you lived in the Vancouver area.

Thanks, I do live in Vancouver too but I think I will just wait until I get new speakers and then rewire the whole thing with some quality stuff.

then when you get the opportunity (or more money) Swap out the stocks for aftermarkets and then re-use the original wiring, except for the amp stuff.
This is what I'm planning to do. However I'm going to run altogether new speaker wires cause I'm not content with the stock wire.
It's a temporary mickey mouse solution, but it's the easiest.
check yah later
