I suspect that my fuel pressure is not up to par. The engine runs and pulls hard upto about 85-90% throttle, but then it kinda wimps out. I am using my original fuel pump with my 20vt engine. Now that the free flowing exhaust is on, I can really feel the loss of power under full throttle. I have read that rewiring the fuel pump will provide a small boost in fuel pressure. I did a search and could not find anything in the way of a diagram or description on wiring. Can someone please tell me what needs to be done to do this? I would like to have my engine running nearer to perfect as I plan to take it to the drag strip tomorrow night.
Thanks

Why not just get the a "new" fuel pump from a turbo Audi?
Rewiring your current "old-high-mileage" fuel pump to 14V, is probably not a good idea?
As the Audi fuel pumps get older, they draw more amps, and flow less fuel. This often overloads their relay.
Reach in there one day, and grab ahold of you fuel pump relay after driving for several minutes! You'll probably find its very hot! ;o)
Do you know the pressures, your fuel pump is suppose to put out? Min? Max?
My recomenday would be get a "new" pump from a Turbo application, as they pump out more pressure & higher flow rates than the non-turbo pumps. ;o)

K24 doesn't have the high RPM problems a K03 does. K24 is definately bigger than the K03 as well. Look at them side by side sometime... Plus with a 9.3:1 CR of the 3B and AAN/ABY, you don't need a huge turbo as long as its efficiency is still good in the upper rpm range.
AFA a mild cam upgrade, only options he really has readily available would be AAN cams (if they are any different), supposedly a 7A exhaust cam, or the ADU cams (pricey, more so than the AAN/ABY cams). Don't think he could use the KW code cams, as that engine has a mechanical valve train vs. hydraulic.
BTW, for the fuel pump...

Howdy! The AAN cams are both different from the 3B, but pain to fit because the gear at the rear of the intake must be re-fit. The AAN intake cam is the same as the ADU (RS2) intake cam. The ADU exhaust cam is it's own beast. The 7A exhaust cam is also it's own beast, considerably cheaper, but as I understand the benefits are really only for very high bhp applications.
As for the power loss. Full throttle switch problem? Replace that pump possibly, don't know if the turbo pumps will solve the problem, but mind you the TYP89 pump is external. The TYP89 pump is common to all the models, from the low psi of a 20v N/A to the 80 FWD that runs 110psi fuel pressures. The CQ in Europe used the same pump for the NG, 7A, and ABY (S2), so you would be fine with a new stock pump if that truly is the problem. You may want to run fuel pressure testing.
Good Luck!
