Replaced crank bearings...
Major pita 3 day ordeal to replace my V6 crank bearings and I'm still not a lot better off in terms of correct oil pressure, in fact it's still the same <1bar at idle but I do get some better pressure at cruise, roughly 3.5-4bar.
Rod bearings had very little wear on them, the top bearing surface had hardly a sheen on the surface coating but I still replaced them with new ones.
No.1 main bearing adjacent to the oil pump was badly worn - down to the copper! and the oil channel chamfers were filled with the metal deposits - also found them in the sump The other three bearings showed very light scuffing.
My oil pressure doesn't jump around anymore but I'm still low on pressure and unfortunetly I've got some rod knock on deacceleration. I measured the bearing clearances with the new bearings in and they did seem to be wavering on the limits of acceptable wear although the crank was in good condition.
It seems as though I need to either reinstall the old bearings as these where hardly worn or get the "oversized bearing shells"? which are listed alongside the "standard shells" listed on ETKA.
I couldn't see any camshaft bearings listed? -does the V6 use them under the journals? this would be my next visit once I reduce the clearances on the rod bearings.
