Default Reset the ECU after cone filter install?

I just read that one shoud unplug their battery for at least 5 minutes after installing their cone filter, so that the ECU will reset and correctly handle the new air/fuel mixture. I never did this - Is this correct?

Default Re: Reset the ECU after cone filter install? Yup!

Your ECU is "adaptive", and would normally take several days to fully adjust to the cone filter.(depending on your driving)

Reseting it allows it to adapt sooner to the cone.
