Default Is this a rip off for engine mounts?

Okay so I took my car in to the mechanic today and he said that my engine mounts were shot. He estimated that for parts and labor it would cost $550. This a reasonable price or should I look around more? Thanks.

Default Std time = .7 center; .4 each for left & right. total = 1.5 hours....

Price of the actual parts - from AUDI is:

Manual Trans
. . Right . . .
. . . Without AC . 443199379E $192.12
. . . With AC . 443199379D . $192.12
. . Left . 443199381C . $170.65
. . Center . 811199339B . $4.97

. Auto Trans . .
. . Right
. . . Without AC . 443199379G . $192.12
. . . With AC . 443199379H . $192.12
. . Left . 443199381C . $170.65
. . Center . 811199339B . $4.97

Prices may not be current, but that's what All Data shows. After-market mounts are much cheaper, but he probably called Audi to ask what they cost.

Taylor Automotive sells them for about $45-50 each, depending on whether you have AC.

Ask if you can order the mounts and just have him install them!<ul><li><a href="http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/taylor/quote.jsp?partner=taylor&amp;year=1989&amp;product =A7000-35452&amp;application=000288389&amp;clientid=taylo rautomotive&amp;cookieid=17G0ZPK0P&amp;baseurl=htt p://www.taylorautomotive.com/">T

List price on mounts is like $120 to $190 each. $190 for no A/C (WTF?)

Default But you can buy the mounts much cheaper through 3rd party - just like most Audi parts.

Default The front crossmember has to come off for the snub mount

thats only 6 easy bolts. just support the engine, and replace other mounts. It's not hard at all. I just did mine. took about an hour.
