Default Ronal 7x15 with 45 offset on a CQ?

Will they work? I realize the spec for a CQ is 35 or 37 offset, but admittedly don't know the effect of the difference.

There is a set of these available locally, originally from a 4000Q CS, I think. Tires are shot, but they will be my winter wheels and the Speedlines will get new rubber.

Thanks,

BA

You might need spacers to prevent suspension component contact with the tire/wheels. Probably a 10mm would be ok.

Default Sorry I don't know the model/name of wheel

Thanks. My understanding of offset is that if you set a ruler across the inner rims, offset is the distance (in mm) from the inner hub/wheel surface to the straightedge. That said, to go from 37 to 45 would move the inside tire-wall slightly inboard, potentially contacting the suspension.

So the spacer moves the wheel back out and corrects it. That sound right?

Would 7mm matter? If so, where does one get these, and also would it require longer wheel lugs?

The other basic question I was hoping to have answered was whether there is any concern about the brake caliper clearance, and if anyone has had these mounted... thought it might be a good thing to ask. They are standard Ronal alloy spoke common on most 4000's, complete with VW/Audi stampings, but in 15" diameter.

Offset is the distance from the hub face to the centerline of the wheel. I think you described backspacing, the distance from the hub face to the inboard side of the wheel.

Adding 7mm of offset will move the centerline of the wheel 7mm (a little over 1/4") closer to the middle of the car. IOW, a 45mm offset wheel sits 7mm more inboard than a 38mm offset wheel. Look behind your current wheel/tire setup and see if you're close to anything back there. Spacers are the easy solution if it rubs.

It seems like some people have put some pretty big wheels on coupes without problems. As a guess, I'd say they'll work fine, especially with narrower tires (skinnier snow tires usually grip better).

The Speedlines are 15x7, correct? I'd think the Ronal 15x7s should work ok, too, brake-wise, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge. I think the 15x7 Ronals originally came on the 5000 turbo and/or tq, if that helps.

You can always just throw them on while it's on a jack and see if it hits anything.

And yeah a 10mm spacer would require a little bit longer studs.
