Default I'm only at 2540RPMs at 75MPH indicated but I swapped out the .080:1 5th gear for a .063:1...

when I did the 016 swap with the B5 4:11 FD so it could have the close-ratio gearset in 1st thru 4th but not be so friggin "buzzy" at highway speeds. It also allows me to mathematically get well over 160MPH without getting much past 6k. I was able to get it to 158MPH (indicated) once and it was just shy of 5.5k and just under my cam peak torque at 5.8k. And it was beginning to falter. Any faster than that and the car just pukes all over iteslf when torque drops off and it hits "the wall."

If I can find flat ground and keep cruise control on at 70MPH it sips gas at a very good 34+ MPG rate but that wasn't/isn't important to me as I spend about 10 minutes annually doing it. I was just sick of 3k+ buzziness doin the highway speed limit in Audis.

But it has a bad side... 5th gear is a HUGE friggin hole unless you shift out of 4th at/near 7k and even then it falls to 3.7k and is a S-L-O-W climb back. With the new engine, lightweight internals and higher RPM ceiling it "should" be a LOT more practical. A .068/.069:1 5th would be nearer ideal, least for my car when finished. If I was bulding a 4.2 V8 identical to my V6 then the .063:1 would be a BLAST!!
