Re: Yes! Antifreeze alone does not make good heat transfer!

Q: What is the best antifreeze/coolant concentration for a vehicle? Can I use 100% antifreeze?

A: We recommend that you use between a 50% and 70% concentration of antifreeze. At least 50% is necessary to give the adequate amount of corrosion protection, as well as freeze/boilover protection. However, we do not recommend more than 70% antifreeze. This would cause restriction of the heat transfer capabilities, corrosion protection, and freeze protection. The concentration of freeze/boilover protection of the antifreeze mixture can be checked using Prestone® Test Strips or a Prestone® Coolant Tester.

http://www.prestone.com/tips/page7.htm</a

Default "restriction" of the heat transfer.. if it didn't transfer heat at all then she'd be S.O.L.

as it would be almost the same thing as running nothing in the system at all

Howdy! Coolant does transfer heat for sure, but not going to do well 100% mixture. If coolant did not transfer heat at all that engine would be absolutely toasted by now, does not take long without coolant to ruin an engine, warped head and so forth. Bosses 90 ran without coolant for 5 minutes while his mother drove it, no head damage, but it started running poorly and chuffing black smoke out of the tailpipe.

Cheers!

Email me if you're in south Florida. I can HIGHLY recommend Prestige Imports in Delray Beach, Fla.
