Default I don't know about the dinero

it seems that with an arc welder, a cutting torch, and scrap metal anything can be done

Default Re: I don't know about the dinero

That era Passat was Audi based IIRC (aka the Quantum, which was a modified 4k chassis I thought?). The 2.0L 16v and 2.8L VR6 cars were VW chassis's. Otherwise, the Passat/Quantum has always been an Audi chassis...

It wouldn't be that difficult to work that swap. I doubt any cutting torches were used. In fact, it'd likely be just like dropping a 5kt motor or 200q20v motor into a 4kq or Quantum syncro.

European, not a Quantum, but a Passat. Only the US cars were called Quantum IIRC...

Sure. Quantums came with an I-5 in them. This is like putting a 20VT in your Audi 90.

Default US Quantum Syncros came w/10v I-5's, but a 20vT will bolt right in...

I know of a couple of guys on the Syncronized forum that have done this. Popular mod, and a sleeper indeed!

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/syncronized/</a

BTW: I've got a QSW just sitting around if anyone has a 20vT and wants to try...
