Default Just go to the H4 bulb section of the Susquehanna site and scroll to the bottom and you'll see them

I wouldn't use those covers for my main headlights either. But I was pointing out that they are available. If the bulbs on my CQ were more easy to get to I might consider getting the covers just to have on hand to put in place for roadtrips up into the great white north. But since it takes way more time than it should to get to the bulbs, I wouldn't even think about it.

Default Another interesting chart explains the "Rated Life" of bulbs...

<center><img src="http://www.sylvaniaautocatalog.com/new_sylvania/imgs/big/weibull_distribution.gif"></center><p>
...(that often unit-less number (it's hours) you see in the bulb listings), how that is arrived at; and why some fail almost right out of the box.<ul><li><a href="http://www.sylvaniaautocatalog.com/new_sylvania/glossary.htm#weibull">Article where this chart came from...</a></li></ul>

Default Some conclusions & questions...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/124134/cq_yellow_fogs.jpg"></center><p>
...That was fun!

The first question that pops to mind is; does the new <u>Sylvania</u> SilverStar ULTRA have blue glass; or is it clear like the Osram version? But with the other options detailed above (thanks to all), perhaps it's academic.

With a rated life of only 150/50, the regular SilverStars, even with an "up to 30%" (ULTRA) boost, doesn't lack for other viable standard wattage competition.

Why is the top rated Sylvania bulb here, not the same as the similar Osram offering in the UK? Part of it may be I'm looking at a moving target as they've always had better lighting "over there".

Certainly the slightly (and still legal?) yellow (especially for fogs) option sounds promising
(the YellowStars look like they will be discontinued, to be replaced by the Optilux Extreme Yellow Xenon), and that would go nicely with the "fogs on alone mod" detailed below. After all this talk of headlights, I want to now, turn them off.

Enlightening, as always, thanks!<ul><li><a href="http://www.20v.org/light.htm#fognohead">http://www.20v.org/light.htm#fognohead</a</li></ul>

Default The domestic SilverStars DO have a blue tint to them.

I also believe they are of a lower construction quality compared to the Osram (European) version.

Yellow fogs, whether yellow by glass or as a result of the bulb are legal.

Default Re: blue tinted glass & legal yellow...

...Yes the "regulars" appear to have that blue glass, but how about the "ULTRA"'s?

...&amp; Yes, certainly in Canada, fogs can be yellow, but I was wondering there above, if you'd get pulled over with the "less yellow" (less than YellowStar) Hella Optilux Xenon XY <u>headlight</u> bulbs? (off-road use only!)<ul><li><a href="http://www.hella.com/produktion/Optilux/WebSite/AuxiliaryLights/Bulbs/XY/H4/H4.jsp">XY's...</a></li></ul>

Default Like I said earlier, I have the Yellowstars in my fogs...

...and honestly, they're not that yellow, at all, and they're supposed to be more yellow than the Optilux.

If you wanted to run Optilux bulbs in your headlights it's not going to appear ridiculously yellow. Beyond that I don't know what else to say. The Optilux sit at what...~2500K for color? They'll appear dimmer/yellowish, but will they look any worse than someone riding around with 10+ year old sealed beams or someone with an old CQ or 80 that has original headlight assemblies and really old 55w bulbs? Probably not.
