rebuild may not be too expensive if you have time and knowledge to do it your own, some parts may be pricey but nothing extreme. You won't be able to do a simplest/cheapest swap for under $1,000...see what you can get for selling with bad motor, it may actually pay off to rebuild. It all depends how much $$$ you have. Hope that helped, maybe ask those guys who already have same engine like yours, they would know better as far as parts pricing goes
