should I sell this 1989 80 quattro?

I've had this 1989 80 quattro for three months and it's been at the dealership more than on the road. When I bought it I brought it to a foreign auto mechanic and he said it was a no-brainer. No rust, engine spotless, only 75,000 miles on it. So I went for it.
After a couple of weeks it initially had fuel injection issues. Was not idling. The mechanics at an audi dealership replaced the idle air control valve and it did not fix the problem. They then moved onto the coolant temp sensor needing to be replaced. But this did not correct the runability.
Their last words were that this car was possessed and that what they would move onto next would be replacing the fuel distributor. Which is pricey and probably not worth it for me.
I am not a hobby mechanic but probably need to sell this dear vehicle to someone who knows how to love it....any comments, or suggestions???

have you tried replacing the fuel filter and adding some fuel injection cleaners to it? allot of times those cars get build up on the injectors and in the pump. Also if that dos no help and you get the fuel injection pump replaced and keep the maintenance up, that car will last you forever.

I think the better question is "Where can you find a better mechanic?"
Just because it's an Audi dealership doesn't mean they know CIS. You need to find the old German guy who barely speaks English and have him take a look at it.
Re-post this as "Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in ?" Where are you located?
And moving on, what is it doing or not doing? The NG motor is pretty simple and generally will run pretty much forever, but it obviously needs some sort of attention at the moment.
Without hearing what the problem is one of the most common faults is a vacuum leak. Take a gander at each and every vacuum line and inspect it for cracks or looseness. I going to venture a guess that you'll find a few dry hose connections or cracked fittings.

Check your crank case breather. Small hose-like thin running from the back of the engine clock(near the oil pan) to a metal tube that runs behind the engine to the intake boot. These tend to dry rot and collapse, causing bad idle among other problems. A new one can be had for $25 through 034motorsport.com for a silicone one or about $65 for a metal version through autohausaz.com(i think).

would love to keep my 89 80 quattro, but have no mechanical experience and not a whole lot of money to be playin around with. Supposedly my car needs a new fuel distributor, maybe a new coolant temp sensor, just had the idle air control valve replaced, but the idle doesnt want to stay consistent. need someone i can trust to work on it or someone to buy it that wants to do the work themselves.
It's only got 75k miles on it and everything else works beautifully.
