Shutdown.
The Russian Etak site has been shutdownat 7:30 AM . Somebody has interceded for VW either in the States or in Europe. Can anybody log on in the States ? I know VW has been trying to shut sites down that have been showing the ETAK for free. Looks like they got this site. Anyone know the dope on this one.

[attempting Jedi mind trick] There is no Russian ETAK site. We call the helpful monkey lads at our dealer 6000 times a day and they are happy to help with our gonzo projects. Software piracy is just plain wrong.

Bah, my joke didn't work...
I was making a lame joke about posting the knowledge of the site on a public forum. Jedi mind trick was for the Audi spies.
Anyway, I hope they don't get it, because I go there all of the time. It's much more convenient having it out on der Net, rather than trying to figure out how to get the CD to work on every new Microsoft OS.

I asked my local dealer about ETKA.....
.... Here in the UK they supply the CD with a dongle, if you do get a copy - you still need the dongle for it to work. Plus they state the dealer must have a 21" screen and pay £40 per month rental and have a fixed phone link.

Not anymore! VW is in cahoots with E-Bay to stop the proliferation of the ETAK. They claim theft and copyright infringement. I tried to buy one and got a message from E-Bay that they would refer all inquiries to buy the ETAK to VW-North America.
