Snow Question on 91CQ, rear end seems unstable on ICE choppy roads
This will seems crazy but I drive over 600 inches of snow per winter with Blizzaks and my 91CQ which is an ultimate snow driver. with the 15 inch wheels they seem a bit squirlly on choppy ice sections. The bumps seem to throw the rear end around. I was getting passed by SUV's and was wondering if the bigger wheels on the SUV's might allow them to hit these choppy hardned sections faster? I cant drive over 45-50 without the rear end washing out. I have NO problems on snowpack , slush, etc. only the choppy sections. Is it the wheel size? Does anyone know if the new A4 Avants are as good in the snow as the CQ? I suspect the CQ is better (better geared) but want some feedback from owners.

Sounds like
the rear is a bit stiff, or out of alignment. If the toe on one of the rear wheel is out, it can cause that effect.
Probably not a bad idea to have the alignment checked. It's a good regular maintenance item anyway.
Add a bag of sand to the boot as well. If you ever get stuck, it'll double as traction on the ice. The extra weight will help hold the wheels down too.
45-50 on choppy ice? That's pretty fast to begin with.
