I've exceeded your nugget capacity already, just lurking through, but couldn't pass up the BS.

Default Ah come on, Bernie. Even to a casual observer, such as myself...

<center><img src="http://www.shallowcenter.com/photos/uncategorized/coyote_magnet2.jpg"></center><p>
who:

a.) I admit to know squat about power steering systems; but

b.) Would like to; and

c.) Unless I have:

1.) a positive attitude; and

2.) something positive to add to the disscussion, perhaps I should remain quiet and <i>just listen</i>, or find something to better to do, to occupy my time.

Further, who elected you arbiter of what anyone else should choose to do as far as their contribution here?

Far from blind, I find Mance's ramblings, rather insightful. He is having fun; are you? I say let him just have at it.

In addition, clearly, you haven't been following this lengthy discussion, yet you want what? Do you want it to stop? I suggest you try to contribute something, anything, that is more interesting, and more positive; than what he's doing. I would welcome it.

If you don't like what's on, change the channel.
In the mean time, Beep-beep!

Default This news bulletin just in (see page 2, first paragraph)...

"<i>suggested</i> (50,000 mile) preventive maintenance" from the good folks at AMRA/MAP, whose members I'm sure would like nothing better than to replace your entire rack, pump et al rather than just eyeball the fluid or change it out...<ul><li><a href="http://www.motorist.org/download/Power_Steering_System.pdf">http://www.motorist.org/download/Power_Steering_System.pdf</a</li></ul>

Default Further, from one of the OEMs, ZF Industries; who, by the way...

<center><img src="http://www.bay-of-fundie.com/img/2008/coyote/birdseed.jpg"></center><p>
seem to have plenty of new, and re-manufactured; pumps, and racks; all ready to ship, apparently; and yet they reccommend as follows (see link below):

Note the three <b><u>underlined and emboldened</u></b> cautions.

Funnily enough, they make no mention of pebbles!<ul><li><a href="http://www.unofficialbmw.com/images/steering-flush.pdf">ZF's own:</a></li></ul>

Default Re: Who is AMRA/MAP and why would I care?...

We'd probably do well to follow their lead.

See the second definition on the second page, titled "Preventative/Scheduled Maintenance".<ul><li><a href="http://motorist.org/download/standards_of_service.pdf">Well, for one thing, they've nothing to sell us...</a></li></ul>

Default Re: And why would they (AMRA/MAP) bother? (link fixed)...

Perhaps because a more knowledgeable, informed, and satisfied customer; might come back.

Kind of like here.<ul><li><a href="http://motorist.org/news/consnews/Editorial_ImportParts_AccessAu5.pdf">So; wouldn't you want to know?...</a></li></ul>

Default Finally, I'm just going to say; what have you done...lately?

There's something about the way these cars drive, and I particularly like the feel of the steering. That's in part why I bother with this old car.

Mance may have some, worth-while things to say about possibly improving the steering, or not! But I'm gonna listen to what he has to say, and not do anything to discourage him; or from him writing about it.

During the on-going software upgrade here, please take the opportunity to visit the other forums; and realize the resources you have here.

It may not always be thus. Just imagine.

Note: It is not the odd receding format (think of that as a fence to discourage the less determined; from idly just hanging around!) that makes the highest and beat use of this forum; difficult.

Ask not what the other forum members can do for you but...

Big or small idea, right or wrong, newbie or relic, brain teaser or too oft repeated question. We were all there once or twice (or not!); and we are going to make or break this conversational place.

Thanks for listening.
