...sound absorbers in the doors. There are two pieces in each door, one top and one bottom. Each piece measures 550x250x2 (mm).
I also checked the A6q and it too has the same door sound absorbers found in the 80/90's. Looks like they do something else to lower the sound levels.

Interesting, I find my mom's A4 is slightly louder than my 90 (at least before I started modifying it). I've realised that so many little things can make a difference in noise. Anything from a poor seal on a door to the shape of your side view mirrors. Slightly worn wheel bearings can cause excess noise that isn't always recognized as the typical bad wheel bearing roaring noise. Once I left a 1L coke bottle wedged in the passenger side view mirror on the car. The amount of extra noise was surprising, I keep thinking a window was open!
I would guess that the improvement in noise between the models has a large part to do with design improvements for things like air flowing by doors and windows, and door seals for example.

ok, not really related to this particular post from a tech. perspective, but...
maybe people shouldn't refer to a certain program by it's given name. would really hate for a certain company to get wind that we have it, and try to take it away. get creative with names, many of us have, and i doubt that "Big Brother" would know what i was talking about if i said something "i found such-and-such's PN on Momentary Lapse of Reasoning tonight"
just my thoughts...
