Default spark plug removal

Does audi have a special tool for installing / removing spark plugs?

Or will a regular spark plug extention work?

I hear the wires are a pain to get off, any tips?

Thanks in advance

Default Re: spark plug removal

My car came with an Audi one - It is the handle of the wheel bolt spanner!

Dont know if this is the same for all Audis (mine has a DOHC head so the plugs are way down in) but I guess a normal extension is OK instead.

Default cool, thanks.. anything else to note about removing / install?

it should be, pull the wire

unscrew the plug
make sure the gap for the new plug is right
screw in the plug
plug back in the wire?

Use an air compressor to blow out all the dirt down in the spark plug valley's, before removal, or all the dirt will fall down into the piston once the plug is removed.

Use "anti-seize" compound on the spark plug threads.

Yes - never over tighten them - I speak from unfortunate experience. Take heed.

Default if use an aftermarket spark plug wrench with an extension ...

make SURE you use a locking extension. Otherwise when you try to pull the spark plug socket off the installed plug, you'll be left with just the extension and the socket stuck to the plug.
