Default Speaker Sizes?

I am searching for speakers for my 93 90. Which I will be replacing soon. What size are the stock speakers? Anyone have any suggestions for some good quality speakers. I was thinking about replacing them with all Blaupunkt speakers.

Default I have Blaupunk Overdrives.

My car is a '88 90 so I have the rear deck speakers that are 5.25". The Blaus are pretty good but don't put out much bass. Really they can't handle bass that well either. I am putting my sub back into the car though, after I fix the trunk latch, so that will take care of my bass.

6.5" would provide much better bass.

Default I think 2.75 in. dash and 5.25in. rear doors...

You should probably go w/component speakers at the rear door as the highs get washed out due to the low placement.

Crutchfield is a good place to start.

http://www.crutchfield.com</a

If Infinity makes the sizes you need I highly recommend the Kappa series. I know car audio.

Default Re: Speaker Sizes?

I fit a 4" component set in the front of my 95 90q. I took out the grille for the side window defrosters and placed the tweeter surface mounted there. I fit a 6.5" component in the rear with a little modification to the doors. By the way, Boston acoustics are the best speakers for the price. Look at the link to see my install

My 90

I have boston acoutstics front and rear. Autoson on St.Jacques sells them for a reasonable price. I used 3.5" front and 5.25" rear. Install is really easy. If you are keeping the stock headunit, you can't just replace the rear speakers as the stock ones have a built in amp. I have some pioneer 5.25" rear speakers and tweeters I will sell for 40$.

Default blaupunkt, speaker sizes, install...

i've never been impressed by blau components, although their head units have a nice look to them. i ran boston acoustic 6.5 coaxes in my last car and was pleased with the wide frequency response, and ample bass response (compared to other 6.5's). someone else reccomended Kappas, and though i've never run them myself, i've heard nothing but good things about the series.

IIRC, the front speakers are 4" or 4.5", and the rears appear to be 5.25." make sure to check the speakers' impedence. many OEM decks stray from the common 8 or 4 ohm resistance that most aftermarket pieces use. the speakers in the rear doors are amped away from the deck itself, and supposedly the crossovers are part of the amp as well. so... you could always try and hook up the crossover to the new speakers you install, but it probably won't match up to the new speakers' specifications or frequency range.

so basically, the best bet is to replace the deck & all 4 speakers. (that's why i haven't done it yet). also, if you have the extra $$, spring for an additional subwoofer to round out your sound. you can save trunk space by building (or having built) a fiberglass bottom box that fits in the trunk behind the wheel well. i've been trying to find a lot of info on these types of installs and have been fairly lucky - so if you'd like me to share please let me know.
