Default Starter install...

My starter died on my '88 90 10V, and I was wondering how to get to the other bolt.

I can get to the bottom bolt (it won't come off) but I can't see the other bolt(s). Anyone no where it is?

Also, the bolts are threaded the normal way, aren't they? Should they be torqued on. I don't have air tools, so I'm trying to get them off with a socket.

Any help is appreciated, maybe some of those cool pictures. My bently is not here yet.

Thanks
Aaron

Default Sometimes one of the 2 bolts has a nut on the end.

They sit at about 6 & 12 O-clock respectively to the starter.

Default the bottom bolt...

has a nut, that was what I meant, But it does not want to budge? I sprayed it with Lubricant, and it is soaking. How do I get to the top one? It seems blocked?

You can "IM" at JsnVR6Corrado.

Default Ya got to loosen the nut first. Its sort of a "lock" for the bolt.

You got to be creative with the socket, ratchet and extensions. Probably a knuckle too!

Default I've only ever seen "bolts" on these Audi's...........

Maybe yours was modified by a previous owner?

See if you can see a bolt head on the other end, or feel a bolt head.

I've never seen a "stud" type of bolt?
That would make starter removel even more difficult.

Make sure you have the battery disconnected before you start removing too! It could be a "shocking" experience if battery not disconnected.

Had many shocking expieriences with cars. Know what to do now. Won't ever make same mistake again.

Is the head of the bot on the back, like the bottom one or on the front?

It looks like the top bolt goes into the solenoid. Sound right?
