The solenoid in the starter of my '91 CQ clicks when I turn the ignition key but the starter does not turn.
How do I fix this?
Thanks.

check the amperage/power level of your battery? Is it high enough to turn the starter. Check your ground connection to the starter also. I am having a problem with my starter but mine just turns. I guess its not engaging. Anyone know a cheap place to get a new one or refurbished one?

12.4 volts, at least 12 to turn the car over. Check battery connections and make sure they're tight. Will the car accept a jump? If none of this works then, yes, the starter is bad. Being that the solenoid is clicking, it is doing it's job by engageing and completing the circuit. I'd hate to see you change a starter without checking the simple stuff first, ake sure your battery is good and the connections are as well.
