Default Re: Steps to replace fuel filter

The fuel filter is located in front of the right rear wheel well. It's mounted vertically. I just replaced mine. What a pain. I had to lower the gas tank in order to get access to it in order get it out! There may be an easier way, but I couldn't see how.

Default Re: Easier Way

I did mine not to long ago (95 Quattro sport). I could not figure out how to loosen the piece that holds the filter in. So after a while I just pulled and twisted the filter until it came out without lossening the clamp. I then cut the clamp with a hacksaw. The clamp still holds the filter securly but it is easy to just pull the filter down.
